The Essential Backup Guide

Backing up your blog safeguards your data from various unforeseen incidents. Here’s a straightforward guide to performing and restoring backups using cPanel, UpdraftPlus, or manually – choose what suits you best.

Backup Through cPanel

  • Navigate to the ‘Backup Wizard’ in your cPanel.
  • Follow the prompts to back up your entire website or just parts of it.

Backup with UpdraftPlus

  • Install and activate UpdraftPlus from the WordPress repository.
  • Navigate to Settings -> UpdraftPlus Backups, then click ‘Backup Now’.

Manual Backup

  • Copy your ‘wp-content’ folder.
  • Export your database via phpMyAdmin.

Restoration

cPanel

  • Navigate to ‘Backup Wizard’, upload and restore your backup file.

UpdraftPlus

  • Go to Settings -> UpdraftPlus Backups, click ‘Restore’, and follow the instructions.

Manual Restoration

  • Replace the current ‘wp-content’ folder with the backup.
  • Import your database backup via phpMyAdmin.

Note: When migrating to a new hosting, ensure to modify the database prefix in your wp-config file to match the new environment, ensuring a smooth transition.

Consistent backups are a blog’s safety net, and having a reliable restoration method is equally critical. So, tailor your backup routine to your blog’s needs and sleep without a worry!
